ALAEC: Values and Purposes

The Latin American Association of Scientific Publishing – ALAEC, founded in Temuco, Chile, on November 16, 2023, is a civil, non-profit association of private law, with an international scope, whose purpose is to bring together people and institutions interested in the publishing of Journals and other knowledge communication products.

ALAEC conducts its activities without distinction of origin, race, gender, color, age, and religion, and does not practice or accept any form of discrimination. Pronouncements of a political nature, especially those related to political parties, are especially prohibited.

The work of public benefit and international scope of ALAEC unfolds in the following specific actions (among others):

  • Fostering, developing, and expanding the exchange and cooperation among journals and scientific editors in its coverage region.
  • Ensuring the strict observance of the principles, rules, and ethical procedures that govern editorial activity.
  • Promoting the wide dissemination of the results of scientific and academic research in all fields of knowledge, fostering the highest level of content and form in scientific communication.
  • Promoting the adoption of international standards of editorial quality.
  • Enhancing the visibility of scientifically peer-reviewed publications produced in its coverage region.
  • Supporting all Open Science inititives.
  • Contributing to the creation, improvement, strengthening, and appropriate use of responsible metrics related to the context of scientific publications.
