ALAEC Latin American Editorial Merit Medals
Through a substantiated process, approved by the General Assembly, ALAEC may award the ALAEC Medal for Latin American Editorial Merit to individuals of impeccable moral, social, and ethical conduct, in the Honorary and Benefactor categories.
I) The Honorary Medal shall be awarded for significant services rendered to the development and improvement of journals and the communication and dissemination of scientific knowledge in general, with the nomination and formalization of the process being the responsibility of the Deliberative Council.
II) The Benefactor Medal may be awarded to individuals who, through inheritance or donation, in goods or cash, contribute to ALAEC an amount exceeding US$ 25,000 (twenty-five thousand United States dollars), with the nomination and formalization of the process being the responsibility of the Board of Directors.The contribution can be completed within up to 4 years and directed towards assets or specific initiatives, such as awards, programs, or scholarships, which may bear the donor’s name.
The award of the honorary or benefactor medal does not depend on the recipient being or having been a member of ALAEC.
The rights the ALAEC Latin America Editorial Merit Medal awardees are as follows:
I) To receive the title of Honorary or Benefactor Medallist of the ALAEC Order of Latin American Editorial Merit, as well as the corresponding diploma and medal.
II) To be addressed as Honorable in any and all documentation, event, or activity within the scope of ALAEC.
III) To have their name prominently displayed in a specific section of the ALAEC website, accompanied by a brief biography and information related to the award.
